• What is the Duck Drop?

    Hudson’s Duck Drop is a fundraising event held in memory of Hudson Curren. Ducks are dropped from the Main Street Bridge into the Black Fork-Mohican River to race to the finish line at the Parrot Head Pub patio. Proceeds benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio. Hudson’s Duck Drop is an opportunity for Hudson’s legacy to continue in support to other families staying at the Ronald McDonald House. 2024 is the second year for the Drop.

  • When is the Duck Drop?

    Hudson's Duck Drop 2024 is scheduled to be held July 20 from 5-9 p.m. with the drop taking place at 8 p.m. at the Parrot Head Pub in Shelby, Ohio. Hudson’s Duck Drop is a family-friendly event with live music, a food truck, games for kids, prizes and fun. You can sponsor a duck for a $10 donation. Ducks are numbered for the race down the river. Prizes for ducks crossing the finish line first include cash prizes and gift cards for various local businesses.

  • Who is Hudson?

    Hudson Curren was born on July 24, 2018. In May 2019, he was diagnosed with a mitochondrial disease known as Alpers, a mutation of the POLG gene, which drastically decreases the amount of energy able to be produced by the body’s cells. He had many stays at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio offered his family the ability to stay nearby. Hudson passed away just after his first birthday, but his legacy continues through this event.
