About Hudson's Duck Drop
What is Hudson's Duck Drop?
Hudson’s Duck Drop is a fundraising event held in memory of Hudson Curren. Ducks are dropped from the Main Street Bridge into the Black Fork Mohican River to race to the finish line at the Parrot Head Pub patio. Proceeds benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio. Hudson’s Duck Drop is an opportunity for Hudson’s legacy to continue through support to other families staying at the Ronald McDonald House. 2025 is the third year for the Drop.
When and where is Hudson's Duck Drop 2025?
Hudson's Duck Drop 2025 is scheduled to be held July 26 from 5-9 p.m. with the Drop taking place at 8 p.m. at the Parrot Head Pub in Shelby, Ohio. Hudson’s Duck Drop is a family-friendly event with live music, a food truck, games for kids, prizes, a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle, and more. You can adopt a duck for a $10 donation. Ducks are numbered for the race down the river. Prizes for ducks crossing the finish line first include cash prizes and gift cards for various local businesses.
How do I adopt a duck?
For each $10 donation, you will receive a unique duck number. You can adopt ducks online or in-person at the Parrot Head Pub. Prizes will be awarded for the first 3 ducks to cross the finish line, as well as the last duck to cross. You do NOT need to be present to win.

Who is Hudson?
Hudson Curren was born on July 24, 2018. In May 2019, he was diagnosed with a mitochondrial disease known as Alpers, a mutation of the POLG gene, which drastically decreases the amount of energy able to be produced by the body’s cells. He had many stays at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio offered his family the ability to stay nearby. Hudson passed away just after his first birthday, but his legacy continues through this event.
Is this event environmentally-friendly?
All ducks are numbered and accounted for at the finish line by our awesome volunteers. We have a net to ensure no ducks are left behind or sneak past us. We plan to use them all again for next year’s Drop!
The Parrot Head Pub takes great care in maintaining the area between the bridge and the bar year-round with beautification projects and flood mitigation. We go the extra mile to ensure that the Black Fork River stays beautiful and litter-free for our city and the real ducks before AND after Hudson’s Duck Drop!
Where can I get a Hudson's Duck Drop shirt?
Shop our online store! Proceeds benefit Hudson's Duck Drop operational costs. We won't have shirts available at the event so please place your order in advance.
